Contract : Permanent +12 Month FTC (Maternity Cover)

Salary: From £41,000 per annum negotiable depending on experience
Location: Hybrid – flexibility to work from home or at any of our main hubs (London, Bristol, Manchester and Harwell)

About the role:

The Procurement team manages all EC, public sector framework and mini-competition procurements and supports other members of staff who are working on procurement activity and assist and support the work of colleagues.

We currently have 2 roles available in the team – one being a permanent position and one a 12-month FTC – maternity cover.

Main responsibilities will include::

  • Support and train staff in internal procurement procedures.
  • Take the lead on allocated EU, public sector framework and mini-competition procurements undertaken
  • Assist in the production of procurement strategies.
  • Ensure that the commercial aspects of a procurement are handled in such a way as to derive the most economically advantageous outcome, by assisting the Purchaser in this process.
  • Lead on expertise in developing contract notices and contract award notices for submission to the Find a tender service.
  • Track legislation and monitor and act upon developments in procurement legislation and good practice.
  • Advise Colleagues on changes that should be made to its procurement processes.

Key Skills and Experience:

  • Significant commercial experience with a track record of skilled negotiation.
  • A relevant Business or Procurement qualification or working towards CIPS.
  • Experience developing procurement strategies for complex procurement projects.
  • Excellent working knowledge of the UK/EU procurement directives.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills – with the capability to communicate concisely and effectively with technical and non-technical colleagues.

Nice to have:

  • Proficiency in bid support matters.
  • In-depth knowledge of the competitive dialogue procedure will be a plus.
  • Experience of working in a technology environment will be particularly beneficial.
